There are several ways to get started working with Ringside.

A full installer that includes Ringside, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Download, install and go!

Kinda Easy

If you understand PHP and PEAR you can get started on your own. You will still need the required versions of Apache, PEAR, and PHP. You must know how to configure Apache, php.ini files and PEAR updates/upgrades to take advantage of this mechanism. This will give you the ability to stay current with our latest release and even continuous builds.

Advanced

Ringside code is open source (see our LGPL license) and available via Subversion (SVN) thus allowing you to examine and modify the core server code as you wish, as per the license agreement.

Currently, our development environment has a different layout than our distribution environment. Hence, if you want to only write applications for deployment in Ringside, it is not recommended (but possible!) to use a development layout directly against your own Apache/PHP/MySQL installation. Install the code using the methods below if you want to modify the core Ringside server code, in addition to writing applications. We have a set of phing build tasks that simplify the process of getting started from a development perspective. Learn more:
